Bangladesh’s veteran all-rounder Mahmudullah has said goodbye to Test cricket. The 35-year-old Mahmudullah, who made his Test debut in 2009, scored 2914 runs in 50 matches at an average of 33.49, including five centuries and 16 fifties. During this he also took 43 wickets. He also got a chance to captain Bangladesh in 6 Test matches.

He played his 50th Test against Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club in July this year, which was a turning point for the Bangladeshi all-rounder. He scored 150* in the first innings of this Test and played a key role in Bangladesh’s 220-run victory over the hosts and was also named player of the match for this innings.

In a statement, Mahmudullah said, “It is not easy to leave the format that I have been a part of for so long. I always thought of going high and I believe it will end my Test career.” It’s the right time.”

He further added, “I would like to express my gratitude to the BCB President for supporting me when I return to the Test team. I thank my teammates and support staff for always encouraging me and believing in my potential.
