Rural India will be the biggest buyer for Britannia, the share of villages is expected to be 50 percent

Kolkata. Country’s largest biscuit maker Britannia Industries continues to focus on rural sector and the share of this sector in the company’s revenue is likely to increase to 50 per cent in the next three years, while urban demand will improve gradually during this period. The company has also set a target of meeting the unexpected annual inflation cost of Rs 1,300 crore by March 2022 by increasing the prices and reducing the packet size.

A company official said that the inflation cost of Britannia in 2021-22 is more than the total cost of the previous six years. Sources told PTI, “Rural income for Britannia will touch 50 per cent in the next three years as the company is focusing on the rural market.” The contribution is already around 35 per cent.

Air purifier sales jump

Room air purifier companies have seen a huge jump in sales amid rising pollution levels in Delhi and its surrounding areas. Like last year, this year also post Diwali sales of air purifiers Manufacturers expect their sales to increase after Diwali this year also. Meanwhile, the air purifier business in the country has crossed Rs 500 crore. North India including Delhi-NCR accounts for three-fourth of the total sales of this product. With the introduction of new models this season, air purifier companies are claiming protection not only from poor air quality but also against the threat of SARS-CoV-2 virus.
