Kidambi Srikanth jumps in ranking, returns to top 10


  • Kidambi Srikanth has moved up four places to 10th in the world rankings
  • Young Lakshya Sen also moved up two places to be at 17th position.
  • Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu remains in seventh place

Kidambi Srikanth, who created history by winning a silver medal at the World Championships, has jumped the rankings. Srikanth has gained four places in the latest Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings on the back of his impressive performance. With this, he has again returned to the top 10.

The 28-year-old from Guntur has benefited from his good performance at Huelva in Spain and has moved up to 10th position in the rankings. Young Lakshya Sen, who won a bronze medal at the World Championships, also moved up two places to be at 17th position. At the same time, B Sai Praneeth slipped two places to 18th position. HS Prannoy, who had reached the quarter-finals at the World Championships, jumped six places and is now ranked 26th.

In women’s singles, two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu remained at seventh place. While Saina Nehwal, who is recovering from injuries, is ranked 25th. The men’s doubles pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy dropped a place to be at 10th position while Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy made it to the top 20 again in women’s doubles.
