Cricket Association of Bengal banned all local competitions till January 15 due to Corona

Kolkata. Due to the increase in Corona cases, the clouds of crisis have started hovering over the domestic cricket. In such a situation, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has decided to stop all competitions of local cricket till January 15. Affected tournaments include First Division, Second Division, age group tournaments, women’s cricket and all-format cricket across districts.

CAB Secretary Snehasish Ganguly said in a statement after the meeting of the office-bearers, “The health and safety of the cricketers is the top priority and the decision was taken in view of the increasing number of pandemic cases and the prevailing situation.” “At the same time, the CAB is taking all steps to introduce vaccination of all cricketers in the age group of 15 to 18 as per the guidelines and rules of the state government,” he added.

The meeting was called after the preparations of Bengal’s Ranji team were affected due to Kovid-19 cases in the camp. Seven members of Bengal’s Ranji team, including assistant coach Sourasish Lahiri, were found to be Kovid positive on Sunday. On Tuesday, CAB president Avishek Dalmiya was also found positive and was admitted to the city hospital.
