Mumbai: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday, November 16 said that racist remarks made against a contestant from Guwahati in a dance reality show should be strongly condemned. In a video clip of ‘Dance Deewane 3’ going viral on social media, the show’s host-dancer Raghav Juyal is seen introducing a contestant from North East. They seem to be making fun of Mandarin, the language spoken by the Chinese.

When actress Madhuri Dixit and choreographer Remo D’Souza ask them what they are trying to do, Raghav casually comments on young contestant Gunjan Sinha in response. In the 40-second clip, he can be heard saying, “People may not understand his Chinese language, but they do understand his dance.”

Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his displeasure by tweeting
The third season of the show, which aired earlier this year, ended only last month. The Chief Minister said on Twitter that ‘racist remarks’ against the contestants will not be accepted. Sarma tweeted, ‘It has come to my notice that the host of a popular reality show has made racist remarks against a young contestant from Guwahati. This is shameful and will not be accepted. There is no place for racism in our country and we all should condemn it clearly. The show ‘Dance Deewane’ was judged by Madhuri Dixit and choreographers Tushar Kalia and Dharmesh Yelande. Remo D’Souza participated in this episode as a special guest.
