Abu Dhabi. India beat Namibia by 9 wickets in a match played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium here on Monday in the ICC T20 World Cup due to Rohit Sharma’s (56) batting. Electing to bat first, Namibia’s team scored 132 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, the Indian team chased down the target in 15.2 overs for the loss of one wicket. Openers Rohit and KL Rahul once again shared a brilliant partnership of 86 runs in 59 balls. Jane Frylink got a wicket for Namibia.

Chasing the target, the Indian team made a quick start. He scored at a fast pace and added 54 runs without losing a wicket in the powerplay itself. During this, Rohit and Rahul were wreaking havoc on the bowlers of the opposing team, as Rohit completed his fifty in 31 balls.

But in the pursuit of scoring runs at a fast pace, Rohit returned to the pavilion after scoring 56 runs in 37 balls with the help of seven fours and two sixes. Meanwhile, the Indian team scored 87 runs in 10 overs for the loss of one wicket.

Suryakumar Yadav, who came third, along with Rahul, took the innings forward. Together, both of them took the team’s score beyond 100 runs in 12 overs. During this, Rahul also completed his fifty in 35 balls.

Along with this, Rahul scored an unbeaten 54 runs in 36 balls with the help of four fours and two sixes. On the other hand, Suryakumar scored an unbeaten 25 off 19 balls with the help of four fours, giving the team an easy victory.

Earlier, out to bat, the Namibian team had a poor start as they added 34 runs for the loss of two wickets in the powerplay. During this, Michael van Lingen (14) and Craig Williams (0) returned to the pavilion after scoring runs. Soon after this Stephen Bard became the victim of Jadeja by scoring 21 runs in 21 balls with the help of a four and a six.

Captain Gerhard Erasmus and Jan Nicol Lofty-Eaton combined to take the team’s score forward, batting in fourth and fifth positions. Meanwhile, Eaton (5) went on to get Ashwin with his wicket after scoring a run. David Wiese, who came at number six, played some good shots with captain Erasmus, as the team scored 51 runs in 10 overs for the loss of four wickets.

After this, both of them started scoring runs at a fast pace. But captain Erasmus was dismissed for 12 runs in 20 balls with the help of a four.

JJ Smit and Wiese, who came to bat in seventh position, took charge of the innings and carried the pace of the runs. Meanwhile, in 15 overs, Smit was sent back for (9) off Jadeja’s delivery. Soon Jane Green (0) was also out. But Wiese and Jan Frylink took the team’s score past 100 in the 17th over.

In the last two overs, Wiese and Frylink batted slow. At the same time, Vise (26) got out on the ball of Bumrah after scoring runs. After this, both the unbeaten batsmen Frilink (15) and Ruben Trumpelmann (13) helped Namibia’s score to 132 for 8 runs.

At the same time, Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin got three successes each for India, while Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets.
