Kane Williamson to miss white-ball series against India, Southee named captain for first T20I

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson will miss the three-match T20I series against India starting Wednesday as he wants to focus his attention on the two-Test series starting November 25 in Kanpur.

New Zealand Cricket (NZC) said in a release that fast bowler Tim Southee will lead the team in the limited overs series.

NZC said, “In view of the first match of the T20 series on Wednesday evening and the subsequent matches on Friday and Sunday night, it has been decided that Williamson will join the Test experts who are practicing in Jaipur itself.” .”

“Tim Southee will lead the team in the first T20 match on Wednesday while Kyle Jamieson, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips and Mitchell Santner will both be available for the series,” the release said. ,

Fast bowler Lockie Ferguson, who has been troubled by a right calf muscle strain, is progressing well and is likely to be available for the T20I series.
