Be it comedy, tragedy or romance, Karisma has played every character well on screen. As wonderful as the professional life of the actress was, in her personal life she got cheated in return for love. Before marrying Sanjay Kapoor, Karisma’s marriage was fixed with Amitabh Bachchan’s son Abhishek Bachchan. The announcement of the engagement of these days had become a topic of discussion in the media. But due to mutual differences, Karishma could not become the daughter-in-law of the Bachchan family.

After breaking her engagement with actor Abhishek Bachchan, Karishmasha married Sanjay Kapoor of Delhi with much fanfare. The marriage of these days took place on 29 September 2003 in Mumbai. Karisma and Sanjay separated from each other after 11 years of marriage. Both got divorced in the year 2014. Four years after the divorce, Karisma made many revelations about ex-husband Sanjay Kapoor. In her interview given to a web portal, Karisma Kapoor told ‘Her mother-in-law used to beat her up. Her husband Sanjay used to give all the details of my expenses to his elder brother.

Karishma had told in this interview that ‘When we both went on honeymoon, then my husband had bid me with his friends. My husband had forced me to spend the night with his friends. Sanjay used to hit me a lot over small things. Often I used to hide my wounds with my makeup. When things started getting worse, we both decided to part ways. I myself was not left with the option at that time, when I was beaten up a lot, then I was too many to file a complaint with the police.
