Kia all set to expand product range in India; to drive in new model in Q1 next year

New Delhi. Auto company Kia India is going to expand its product portfolio. According to a senior company official, the company is in the process of launching a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) in the country during the first quarter of next year. The company currently sells three products – Seltos, Sonet and Carnival in India. The company will introduce its multi-purpose vehicle (codenamed KY) globally on 16 December.

The company said that the global showcase of the new MPV will happen next month, but it will actually be launched in the January-March quarter of next year. Tae-Jin Park, MD & CEO, Kia India said that India is an important market for Kia, not only in terms of sales but also has the potential to become a production and global research and development hub. He added that the company has already received a very good response to the Seltos, Sonet and Carnival here.

Park said that we are pleased to announce that Kia India will introduce its new product KY in the first quarter of 2022. With KY, we will begin our next phase of growth to strengthen our business and operations in India.

As per the company’s in-depth research, it has been found that the demand for a practical and aspirational family car with advanced futuristic technologies is very high in India. With KY, we will address the need for an innovative, inspiring experience in family commuting, Park added. He said that we will not launch only 6-7 seater vehicles but we want to create a new segment which is not present in the market yet. KY is going to be a game changer in this segment.

The new model will have a lot of space like a big family vehicle and will have the boldness of an SUV. Kia is a fast growing company in the Indian Automotive Industry. Within two years of commencing its operations in the country, the company has achieved a total sales of 3 lakh vehicles. The company has achieved this feat in July this year.
