At the beginning of the new year, New Zealand has to play a two-match Test series at home against Bangladesh. For this series, the hosts have announced their team of 13 players. Regular captain Kane Williamson has been rested due to injury. After his ouster, Tom Latham has been given the responsibility of captaincy, while Ajaz Patel has not been given place in the team, who recently had a historic performance against India.

Announcing the Test series starting January 1, Kiwis coach Gary Stead said “Coming back home and coming back to places we know very well, and where we have had success in recent times.” Very good. It is really disappointing that Kane is not available for this series, but as we have seen in India, he needs rehab and rest.”

About Ejaz Patel, the coach said, “You will feel for Ejaz after his record breaking performance in India. However, we have always implemented a horse-for-course selection policy and believe that we have picked the most suitable players for the way we want to play here against Bangladesh at home.”
