World number one Novak Djokovic began his campaign at the ATP Finals tennis tournament with a straight-sets win against Casper Rudd on Monday. Serbia’s Djokovic defeated Rudd 7-6, 6-2 for his sixth consecutive win.

Djokovic’s dream of completing a calendar Grand Slam was shattered with a loss to Daniil Medvedev in the US Open final and he took a two-month break after that.

Djokovic returned from a break to win the Paris Masters title this month. Djokovic is eyeing the top eight players in the world to equal Roger Federer’s record of six titles in this season-end tournament.

With this win, Djokovic has taken an early lead in the green group. On Monday, 2018 champion Stefanos Tsitsipas will take on Andre Rublev in a round-robin group match.
