NZ vs AUS: David Warner named ‘Player of the Tournament’ reveals the secret of returning to form

On Sunday night, Australia defeated New Zealand by 8 wickets in the final match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 to win the title. This is Australia’s first T20 World Cup title. Earlier this team played the final in 2010 where England tasted defeat to them. Talking about the final match, New Zealand, batting first, had set a target of 173 runs in front of Australia, which was achieved by the Kangaroos in 18.5 overs.

David Warner (53), who was in fine form during the tournament, also scored a half-century during the final and was instrumental in the team’s victory. In this World Cup, Warner’s bat scored 289 runs and he remained second in the list of highest run-scorers in the tournament. Topping this list was Pakistan captain Babar Azam who scored 303 runs in 6 matches.

Warner has now become the highest run-scorer for Australia in a T20 World Cup. Warner received the Player of the Tournament award for his outstanding performance during the tournament.

Warner, who came to receive this award, said, “I always like it. Yes, I could not stay at the crease for long during the practice match but I did it during the match. I had to start everything again and go back to my basics. Yes, the loss against England a decade ago hurt. Wanted to play a great innings for him. There were good scores on the scoreboard which caused a bit of panic. It’s been amazing to see what the players did.”
