Sesame Workshop India and Planet Water Foundation join hands to promote sustainable hand hygiene

New Delhi. In view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the increasing threat of diarrheal disease, Sesame Workshop India (SWI), in partnership with Planet Water Foundation, under its Water, Health and Hygiene campaigns, has promoted the importance of good hand washing and personal hygiene among people. A new effort has been started to promote habits.

To give a thrust to the campaign, SWI, in association with the Planet Water Foundation, recently released a special hand washing song ‘Chhapa Chhap’ featuring children’s favorite cartoon characters Muppets Elmo, Cookie Monster and Abby, who use the soap. By giving the message of washing hands. This interesting song is becoming very popular among children as well as people. Through social media, SWI is reaching out to children and their families and inspiring them to make a paradigm shift in cleanliness.

Understanding the health and hygiene needs of young children in the country, Sonali Khan, Managing Director, Sesame Workshop India said that through our partnership with Planet Water Foundation, we aim to increase hand washing and hygiene among school children. Along with promoting good habits, ensuring their mental and physical development by protecting them from diarrhea or any kind of deadly flu.

Whereas, Kristen Steele, Vice President, Planet Water Foundation expressed gratitude to Sesame Workshop India saying that hand washing is an effective habit that can prevent many diseases among people and save their lives. While the pandemic has increased this awareness level, we aim to continue and emphasize on maintaining this hygiene practice.

The Planet Water Foundation’s mission is focused on providing clean water to the world’s poorest communities. Since 2009, Planet Water has completed more than 1,500 projects providing clean water to more than two million people in 15 countries.
